Actor-Director Gives Clear Explanations on Maria Ressa’s Case and the “Democracy is Dead” Catchphrase

Experienced actor and well-known director in Philippine movies, Manuel Castaneda or Manny Castaneda expressed a remarkable explanations on Maria Ressa’s tax evasion case along with the usual crying of her supporters saying that “Democracy is Dead” in the Philippines.






Based on Castaneda whenever the law does not proceed their way , Maria Ressa, as well as her supporters, are fast to howl cliché catchphrase like “Democracy is dead in the Philippines!” or “This government harassment!”

Now, she is being accused of tax evasion and BIR purportedly has all the evidence to support the case. All she has to do is to follow the democratic process to prove her innocence.

But her actual crime is far deeper than a simple case of tax evasion. It has become common knowledge that the money she recieved from a foreign donor is allegedly meant to be used to discredit and consequently distabilize or even overthrow the government.

Now, that is a much bigger crime she would probably have to face sooner or later. Sympathy card will not work here. There should be no sympathy to a person who would unabashedly sell the country to a foreign organization. And let us not forget, Maria Ressa is also an American citizen. Her actions reveal where her loyalty truly lies.
