Congressman skips airport screening actions, belittles security staff

ACTS-OFW partylist Rep. Aniceto “John” Bertiz III is currently being criticized on social media at this moment after Manila International Airport Authority-Airport Police Department (MIAA-APD) published a video displaying the lawmaker skipped the screening processes at the departure area of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 2.

In the video, it revealed that Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos seemed to be there throughout the incident, however she followed the security operations and then removed her shoes at the final security checkpoint respectively.

But, when Bertiz entered the airport security video confirmed that the lawmaker denied to removed his shoes perhaps even shoved his identification card to a security personnel to present himself as a congressman.

Bertiz furthermore forcefully took the security officer’s ID, place it in his pocket after that quickly left the area.

Based on the report, the occurrence took place at around 6:45 A.M Sept. 29, 2018.

The source of the video even revealed that Bertiz allegedly called MIAA General Manager Eddie V. Monreal requesting a demand to fire the officer who screened him.

APD revealed that the lawmaker violated “a lot of security protocols” throughout the incident.

Netizens couldn’t keep their disappointment from Bertiz, a well-known supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“No one is above the law….sad that certain congressman feel that one is above the law Bec they are part of making the law….wrong deduction for certain lawmakers.” Michael Macalag stated.

One more netizen reminded Bertiz that actually President Rodrigo Duterte is following airport screening operations.

Bertiz is not still providing a comment on the incident.

This is not such the first time that Congressman Bertiz encountered controversy, precisely three days ago, the lawmaker’s statement throughout an oath-taking ceremony obtained criticisms.

Speaking with the oath takers, he questioned, “Kilala niyo ba kung sino yung sinasabi ko (Bong Go?).”

When somebody from the crowd replied with “hindi ,” Bertiz advised not to push the oath-taking ceremony any longer.

“Wag na nating ituloy to. Yung mga hindi nakakakilala kay Secretary Bong Go, walang PRC license mamaya,” the party-list representative stated.

In an interview, Bertiz apologized for his claims and then explained that his words were “meant to be a joke.”
